🇰🇪 The Kenya Project – Donate Now!

When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence

Dear reader, welcome to the Kenya Project,

This year, we created a goal of raising $20,000 for a school in rural Kenya – Wanzua Primary School in Kitui, Kenya, that teaches 400 kids from Kindergarden to Grade 6. We are working to implement a feeding program, that will feed the children at the school for up to 6 months! If you’d like to support us to help us reach our goal – you can find the donation button below. We thank you greatly for your consideration and support!

We have currently raised $12,000 and are so close to reaching our goal!

About the Kenya Project

Campus UNICEF is currently raising money for the Kenya Project, an international initiative created in part with the help of Abi Orina – a Kenyan international student who volunteered at the school herself and approached us when we held a call for outreach.

We thank you greatly for your consideration and support!

What’s the Story?

Every year, Campus UNICEF receives thousands of dollars through fundraising for various initiatives, and as a non-profit organization, we recycle that funding back into creating great programs for students at the University of Alberta. In 2022, the executive team noticed that we had an abundance of funding (moreso than in previous years), and sought to find a meaningful way to utilize our donations, supplemental to our yearly donations to UNICEF Canada.

Enter – Abi Orina. Abi and I met through the School of Business Consulting group, and after bumbling on about our classes and the delights of being a University student, I mentioned that Campus UNICEF is interested in starting a bigger project – aimed at improving children’s international education.

She suggested using the money to help a primary school she volunteered with in Kitui, Kenya, called Wanzua Primary School. Wanzua Primary School oversees 400 students’ education in Kitui, and many of the kids there are raised by their grandparents.

The school itself lacks infrastructure and hygienic necessities, and as such – Abi expressed that they would really benefit from our funding. Since then, we have worked to create a feeding program at Wanzua Primary School, and with your help, we can reach our $20,000 goal! We appreciate any donation, no matter how big or small, and will be sure to update our donors on the progress of the project.

Thank you!

Sara Assaf, Co-President of Campus UNICEF
